Lahntal Cycle Path

Popular both among pleasure cyclists and ambitious athletes is the nearly 250-kilometer-long Lahn Valley Cycle Path. The best-known cycle path in the Lahn Valley follows the river through very diverse landscapes from the source to the mouth and repeatedly offers interesting side routes – for example, for mountain bikers. Highlights of the route include the romantic town of Braunfels, 55 kilometers from Marburg, with its 13th-century castle. The Goethe city of Wetzlar also invites you to take an extended city walk along the way. You can find the exact route here.

Eventful bike tours

There is much to discover along the other cycling routes in the region as well. Cycle to idyllic lakes and take breaks in quaint half-timbered towns. Numerous castles and palaces invite you on interesting trips into history.

We especially recommend these routes to our cycling guests:

Burgwald Cycle Route: On the 40-kilometer-long Burgwald Cycle Route, you arrive in the picturesque half-timbered village of Schönstadt and pass through the idyllic Franzosenwiesen in the heart of the Burgwald forest.

Lahn-Eder Cycle Route: Follow the route of the Burgwaldwahn through the lovely Wetschaft valley on the Lahn-Eder Cycle Route – past traditional farming villages to the historic district town of Frankenberg.
Long-Hessen Cycle Route: On the Long-Hessen Cycle Route, you follow a historic trade route – including to the neo-Gothic Rauischholzhausen Castle and along the renatured Zwester Ohm.
Adventure Cycling on the German Fairy Tale Route: Four routes with stage suggestions open up the land of fairy tales, sagas, and legends.
Do you prefer to plan your routes individually? This cycle tour planner will help you with that.
