Hotel with history

YOUR HOME IN MARBURG

The hotel, founded in 1834, was awarded the title of purveyor to the court of the Landgraves of Hesse in 1913 after continuous growth and has been owned by the Richter family since 1959. However, the growth of the city and the hotel, the development of technology, and the needs of the guests have led to significant external and internal changes over time.

Where the covered driveway for the carriages used to be, you will now find our reception hall. Just behind the building there was space for three carriages and six horses. An extension has replaced the neighboring "Hessischer Hof" and doubled the number of rooms in the hotel. Internally, it is connected to the main building by a floor.

Founding story

1829 - 1832

September 1829 landlord Wilhelm Weiß submitted a building application to the city of Marburg for a hotel on Elisabethstraße - today's "Marburger Hof".

October 1832 the legal transfer of the building plot took place, which Wilhelm Weiß acquired from the landowner Jacob Blenner

Historical motif

1832 - 1834

the "Gasthaus Weiß" was built and can already be seen on a lithograph from the year 1834, which shows Elisabethstraße. Over the years, the name of the house changed to "Europäischer Hof".

The Pfeiffer family acquired the hotel from innkeeper Weiß - it became the "Hotel Pfeiffer

At that time, there was a wide gate entrance in the middle of the building, through which carriages could enter the courtyard, where there was a stable with space for six horses and three carriages.

Historical Change

1884
