Hiking vacation in Marburg

Lahn Hiking Trail

A true dream for passionate hikers is the Lahn Hiking Trail. As a versatile premium long-distance trail, it follows the Lahn river from its source in the Rothaar Mountains to its mouth in the Rhine – leading you over mountains and through valleys, into cities and villages. The upstream section is particularly scenic.

Lahn-Dill Highlands Trail

The Lahn-Dill Highlands Trail stretches nearly 90 kilometers from Dillenburg or Herborn to Marburg. The route of this premium hiking trail continually surprises with new views – of mysterious castle ruins, impressive rock formations, lovely heathland, or sparkling water.

Burgwald Trail

The 50-kilometer premium hiking trail Burgwald Trail connects Marburg with Frankenberg. Along the way between Lahn and Eder, you will discover abandoned stone quarries and moors where cotton grass bends in the wind. Historic sites create a wonderful contrast to quiet forest meadows.

Besides these particularly attractive routes, there are many more varied and well-developed hiking trails around Marburg. While some tours are ideal for families or inexperienced hikers, others challenge experienced trekking fans. Experience idyllic lakes, castles and palaces, or tranquil half-timbered villages.
